Today we’re going to show you how to edit the wp-config file to allow more memory for your plugins. But wait why do I need more memory? Well the basic installs of WordPress usually only come with 40mb allowed for plugins which may sound like a lot, but for larger plugins this just isn’t enough and if we don’t have enough memory we risk our site crashing or running slow.

So how do we add extra memory? Sounds complicated right? In the video above we show you how to simply open up your ftp and find the file you need to edit to allow more memory. It’s as simple as adding a piece of code to the top of your wp-config file to tell the system to allow more memory. This will not only prevent the site from crashing but can also help the site run faster as the plugins now have more memory that they can consume.

When you open up the file to edit it you will need this piece of code to add to the top of the file.

define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’,’200m’);
